I’ve never been a fan of tres leches cakes in general, but Garrido’s does a fantastic job! It was moist without being soaking wet, light and the chocolate just takes it over the edge. The Chocolate Mousse is perhaps one of the better ones in town and is creamy and delicate and is finished with a dark chocolate truffle. Good job Garrido’s!!!
Chocolate Intemperance Cake from Jeffrey’s located at 1204 W. Lynn in Austin, TX.
Over the holidays, I had the pleasure of having what I consider to be one of the best chocolate desserts in Austin…Chocolate Intemperance from Jeffrey’s. It is a delicious, moist, dark chocolate cake finished with chocolate ganache. What made it better, was a scoop of Amy’s Ice Creams Mexican Vanilla Ice Cream. I didn’t stay at Jeffrey’s for dinner; I simply just picked up dessert and will do so again and again!!
Plain Truffles from La Maison du Chocolat located in Paris.
A couple years back, I had some of the best chocolate truffles I’ve ever had as a gift from a friend who went to France. I did some chocolate researched and found La Maison du Chocolat and decided to order some of their truffles and was not disappointed. Each truffle was dusted with cocoa powder with a dark couverture that coated a creamy smooth truffle mousse. This could be a regular in my pantry!!

This cake is what this blog is entirely about…Chocolate on Chocolate. The moist dark chocolate cake was perfectly complemented by the lightly sweetened chocolate butter cream icing. Delicious and thanks for the recommendation Natalie!

This was a pleasant treat! Warm lava cake with a thin crust, yet light and airy! Overall, a good dark chocolate dessert!

I appreciate Galaxy cafe for it’s great healthy menu and have finally tried this great cookie! It rich and moist with a nice crunchy outside…an excellent cookie by my standards! Good job Galaxy Cafe!!
Opéra from Baguette et Chocolat located at 12101 Bee Cave Road (FM 2244) in Bee Cave, 78738.
So, I decided that I wanted a different chocolate concoction from Baguette et Chocolat, so I ventured out to Bee Cave for the second straight week! This time, I tried the Opéra, which is Joconde cake, butter cream coffee and chocolate ganache. The combination of coffee and chocolate is one of my favorite food combinations and this cake was moist, light, and not incredibly rich making for a delicious treat!
Chi-Minh, the owner, is a genius at his trade and I can’t wait for yet another trip to Bee Cave!!

By far…THE BEST mousse I have ever had. Baguette et Chocolat is located in Bee Cave and is a french bakery and pastry business with a full menu for dining as well. I had a great panani and finished it off with an excellent mouse!
The mousse was silky, buttery and melt in your mouth. The texture of the mousse combined with pecans was divine! I shall return for more mousse!!! The trip to Bee Cave is worth a great meal and dessert!!
Honey Bee Cake at Walton’s Fancy and Staple located at 609 West Sixth - Austin, TX
Okay!!! I was excited to eat this dessert but should have remembered that the inside was not chocolate. Almond and ganache coating was excellent; however, the inside of the cake was not moist and was more cookie like as well as a bit bland. The blandness came from too much almond flavoring and did not have the honey taste I had anticipated. This was my first time to Walton’s and enjoyed the overall experience but not this cake so much. I will return to try another of their chocolate varieties.
Triple Chocolate Cupcake from Polkadots Cupcake Factory at 2826 Rio Grand - Austin, TX.
Today’s review is of a childhood favorite food…CUPCAKES!!! By FAR…Polkadots makes my favorite cupcake and is, in this chocoholics opinion, the best cupcake factory in town! The cupcake was moist with a rich chocolate ganache icing and topped with chocolate cream. Quality ingredients = fantastic eating experience! Good job Polkadots, I will be back for another!
